What changed in the 14888-3 signature amendment?
The amendment adds EdDSA for Ed25519 and Ed448 as a fifteenth mechanism, adds a definition and symbols for the twisted Edwards curve group, tightens the hash strength rule for KCDSA and SDSA, closes the EC-DSA hash list, adds one normative reference, and replaces Annex A. Annexes B, F, G and H are updated.
What is the main change?
EdDSA. It is a complete mechanism with key generation, signing and verification clauses, two parameter sets and new object identifiers.
What changes for existing mechanisms?
KCDSA and SDSA must show that the hash strength meets the parameter pair, and EC-DSA has a named hash list instead of an open choice.
Do the annexes matter?
Yes for interoperability. Annex A replaces the object identifiers, and Annex B adds point encoding and decoding for the new mechanism.
